A Proud Dance Teacher…

This weekend the kid I teach performed in their Xmas show. This year they told the story of the Wizard Of Oz and it was the cutest thing ever. The show is such a big production with the most amazing costumes and projections, it really is an all round show. I managed to watch the 3rd out of the 4 shows from the side of the stage and they all did so well.  We have been working on the show since September and I couldn’t have been prouder. I mean I was not easy on them! I am a task master when I want to be! ‘From the beginning one more time’ is one of my lines I say a lot, fully well knowing I would make them do it again another 10 times!! I’ve been teaching a lot of them for over a year now and recently something, somewhere has clicked for some of them and it is so beautiful to see. They final get things and movement starts to flows better and they just come into their own.

I’m not sure why but I find it so difficult to watch my final dances on stage properly. It’s not that I am critical at watching my own work it is more of a feeling of ‘my work here is done’, over to them. I also received really lovely comments about my choreography this year that was really nice to hear. I love choreographing and being creative so I hope that shows.

In the new year my big focus will be on our production of The Sound Of Music. It is going to be a lot of work but I’m praying we can pull it off!!

Thanks for taking a look!
