This weekend me and Jack went on a little adventure to Bourton on the Water. We visited a few years ago and I did a little blog post at the time that you can find here (hopefully my writing is a lot better than it was back in 2017!!). I can’t actually believe it was that long ago so I thought I would do another little blog post about what we did…
Luckily, we don’t live too far away so it was an easy 30-45 minute drive through the country side. I picked up my new car on Friday, so it was fun taking Jack for a spin. I brought myself a Fiat 500 and I love him so much. I know they are a ‘Daddy bought my car, car’ but believe me when I say, ‘I brought my car’! I have been squirreling money away for the past year to get this car. I love the retro looking white interior and I haven’t spotted another dark blue Fiat, yet which is cool.
Bourton on the Water is your quintessential Cotswold village, known as the Venice of the Cotswold’s with all of it’s little bridges leading you over the river. The beautiful Cotswold stone cottages and shops with the neatest little gardens and flower beds are so cute to see. After a lovely walk around the bridges and pathways around Bourton we stopped off for some lunch at a restaurant called The Croft (You can see it in the background of the 1st picture). I had a Fish Finger sandwich and fries and Jack had Ham, Egg and Chips which was very very nice. I loved the decoration inside as it was really modern compared to the rest of the vintage style tea rooms. I really liked the reclaimed wooden walls and the pictures on the walls. We sat in the large window and people watched all of the tourists posing on of the bridges for photos, which was really funny to watch.
After a yummy lunch we continued to walk around the shops. Some of them are dotted around just off of the main street so it is worth going for a little wander around. We also spotted some brown trout and some young ducklings on the river too.
If you are ever around the Cotswold area Bourton on the Water is a great place to stop off at, they even have the Motor Museum, Model Village and Bird land to visit. We didn’t get time to visit these yesterday, but I have been to Bird Land in the past and it is a really good day out. Or if you just fancy a nice walk around somewhere different.
Have you ever been to Bourton on the Water? Or any other Cotswold Village? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for taking a look,
Chloe May x
